Thanks Matt for keeping water issues on the public mind. With everything else going on nationally and internationally, it is not good to forget that just a few months ago we didn't really have a 'Plan B' for drinking water.

You go Fella, we need some young blood. I will vote for you and be in your box. No way does North carolina need someone like that crooked dog Matthew Ridenhour from Florida. He was a lier there, he will be a lier here.

He keeps saying that Steele Creek Community needs representaqtion. Yes, but we are being represented and I will be at the poles to politic against him. We need represntion in the local, City & State Government but not by him. Help Keep Riddehour out of the picture. L. Freeman/lifetime resident of Steele Creek & Charlotte, N.C.

Not to mention doesn't the NC Constitution mandate public funds be spent only for public purposes? Subsidizing a private enterprise is a private purpose. Also the pro-corporate-welfare side seems to be admitting the failure of public education, since their approach is that companies need to be bribed to hire slugs like us.

I hear you! We're on permanent rationing, even as our reservoirs are completely full. As near as I can tell, it's mostly for show at this point: "conservation" is a great buzz word amongst many circles in Durham, but it's not solving our actual infrastructure problems.

I personally think that we need tiered water pricing that not only completely recuperates the cost of delivery, but also finances the inevitable real solution to the mess: building our own intake on Jordan. Even if the existing infrastructure was adequate now (which it's not), the Jordan intake would still eventually be required to support our massive growth rate.

Of course, this has largely disappeared from the discourse now that we're past the immediate crisis. The Jordan intake is a difficult financial pill to swallow, and nobody in office is going to voluntarily take on that baggage when times are lean - especially not when they can keep pushing it off into the murky future and throw out visible (but not very effective) stopgaps like Teer Quarry and mandatory rationing instead.
